The viola at AChA
Violas are the heart of the orchestra's harmony, bridging the violins and cellos. Good violists are perpetually in demand, and in the Australian Christian Orchestra you'll find a section where your alto-clef line genuinely shapes the sound rather than disappearing into it.
Auditioning as a violist
Grade 7+ AMEB (or equivalent) is our guide. Send a short video — a study, a movement, or a hymn — and we'll take it from there. If you're a violinist who also plays viola, tell us; doublers are very welcome.

There are never enough violists — is that true here too?
Honestly, yes. Capable violists are warmly welcomed and quickly find a home in the section.
I play violin but could switch to viola — useful?
Very. Confident doublers give Natalia real flexibility in programming. Mention it in your application.
