The cello at AChA
Cellos anchor the orchestra, the bass line, the tenor melodies, and some of the most moving solo moments in the sacred repertoire. In the Australian Christian Orchestra the cello section is a close-knit group that carries real emotional weight in worship settings.
- The commitment
- Monthly Thursday rehearsals, 7:00–9:15 pm. Concert preparation may include extra rehearsals.

Let's hear about you.
Start with the interest form. We look for Grade 7+ AMEB (or equivalent). If a video is requested, a Bach suite movement, study or worship arrangement can show your current level. Strong rhythm and a warm tone go a long way.

- Suitable applicants are invited to a trial rehearsal.

Cellist questions
Do I need to bring my own cello to rehearsals?
Yes, members provide their own instrument. Rehearsals are at UTS Building 5 in Haymarket, with parking and public transport close by.
Is there solo or principal opportunity?
Principal and solo assignments depend on the repertoire and section needs. Ask the team about your experience and interests.
