You don't need to have every audition detail worked out before you enquire. Start by telling us about your instrument and experience. The Australian Christian Orchestra welcomes adult musicians at Grade 7+ AMEB or equivalent demonstrated standard.
Step 1: Express your interest
Use the Programs Interest Form to tell us what you play and ask any questions about joining. This is the first step, before submitting an audition recording or paying for membership.
Step 2: Audition and review
If a video audition is requested, the team will explain what to prepare and how to submit it. The video audition fee is $50. Natalia Raspopova or the relevant conductor reviews your musical readiness for the ensemble.
Step 3: Attend an invited trial rehearsal
Suitable applicants are invited to a rehearsal at UTS Building 5, Haymarket. You'll meet the section, experience the repertoire and learn how the orchestra rehearses together. The team will confirm your next step after the trial.
Step 4: Approval and membership
Once approved, complete the deposit, payment and onboarding steps provided by the team. Orchestra membership is $99/year for new members or $49/year when renewing. A $99 per-concert option is also available. See the membership guide for payment options, concessions and professional arrangements.
Is this the right level for me?
We look for:
- Grade 7+ AMEB or equivalent demonstrated standard on your instrument
- The ability to read and prepare orchestral parts
- A willingness to listen, rehearse and contribute to the section
- Shared Christian faith expressed in the Nicene Creed, across denominations
You don't need to be a professional musician or belong to a particular denomination. If you're unsure about your current level or returning after a break, explain that in your enquiry so the team can advise you.

Where and when
Adult orchestra rehearsals are monthly on Thursdays, 7:00–9:15 pm, at UTS Building 5, 1 Quay Street, Haymarket. Concert preparation may include extra rehearsals. Check the orchestra page for the current calendar.
Looking for a young musician aged 11–19? The youth programs have their own audition and joining pathway, with parents managing enquiries for under-18s and 18–19-year-olds enquiring for themselves.
