The harp at AChA
The harp brings a uniquely sacred shimmer, glissandos under a hymn, delicate arpeggios behind a soloist. Harpists are rare, and in the Australian Christian Orchestra a capable harpist is treasured.
- The commitment
- Monthly Thursday rehearsals, 7:00–9:15 pm. Concert preparation may include extra rehearsals.
- Where you'll meet
- UTS Building 5, 1 Quay Street, Haymarket.
Orchestra membership is $99/year, or $49 when renewing. Compare fees and payment options.

Let's hear about you.
Start with the interest form. Grade 7+ AMEB (or equivalent) on pedal harp is our guide. A requested video helps the team hear your current level. Given how few harpists there are, do get in touch even if you're unsure.

- We'll explain the next step. A video audition is requested if needed ($50).
- Suitable applicants are invited to a trial rehearsal.
- After approval, complete your membership and onboarding.

Most orchestral repertoire needs pedal harp, but tell us what you play, we'd rather talk than miss a harpist.
How often is harp programmed?
In larger sacred works and concerts; we program around the harpists we have.
