Woodwinds · Australian Christian Orchestra

For Christian flautists in Sydney looking for an orchestra that shares their faith.

Your place in the woodwinds

The flute at AChA

Flutes carry some of the most luminous lines in sacred orchestral writing — the soaring descants above a hymn, the delicate filigree over strings. In the Australian Christian Orchestra the woodwind section is small enough that every flute part genuinely matters.

Flautist questions

Do you need piccolo doublers?

Often, yes — piccolo is programmed in bigger works. If you double, that's a real asset.

How many flute chairs are there?

Typically two to three, depending on the season's repertoire.
