For Eastern Orthodox musicians and singers in Sydney looking for a place their tradition is honoured.

You're welcome here

The Orthodox tradition at AChA

The Orthodox tradition carries the oldest continuous liturgical music in Christianity — the chant traditions, the unaccompanied choral richness, a theology of beauty as a window into heaven. At Australian Christian Arts, Orthodox members bring something the West too often forgets.

What you bring

Orthodox members bring an ancient sense of the sacred, the discipline of liturgical singing, and a theology of beauty (the 'heaven on earth' of Orthodox worship) that deepens everyone around them.

We don't ask you to leave your tradition at the door — we ask you to bring it. AChA unites 20+ denominations under the Nicene Creed, and stays alongside your local church rather than replacing it.

Questions from Orthodox musicians

Will my Orthodox tradition fit a mostly-Western ensemble?

Yes — and it enriches us. We unite under the Nicene Creed, which the Orthodox Church helped formulate at Constantinople in 381.

Do you sing any Orthodox repertoire?

The breadth of our sacred repertoire makes room for it, and Orthodox members help us sing it with understanding.
